The day culminated in the pitching competition finals when 50 startups took the stage. Their pitches covered e-commerce, VR, AR, big data, education, health care and enterprise services. Out of five batches, five companies made it to the finals. The companies that made it to the finals were: Marvelmind Robotics, Laiye, NextVPU, Sunnatech and LAKKA Technologies. Out of the five finalists, Marvelmind Robotics was chosen as the winner. The company won a RMB 5 million fund, free space at ZJ Ventures Studio, and received an invitation and a place in the Slush 100 Pitching Competition in Helsinki.
Maxim Tretyakov, founder of Marvelmind Robotics, was extremely happy about the result. “Absolutely exciting. I came to Slush Shanghai to find customers but also got accepted to the competition. I’ve been to China many times, because our manufacturing is here in China. The event has been fantastic and I am very much looking forward to Slush in Helsinki, “ he commented right after the finals.
The winner was chosen by judges Allen Zhu, Managing Director at GSR Ventures, Ilkka Kivimäki, Partner at Inventure and Chairman of Slush, William Bao Bean, Partner at SOS Ventures and Judy Wei, CEO L’Atelier Asia. Kivimäki described the finalists as some of the best he has ever witnessed. “I feel really privileged to have been a judge for this final; all of the companies were extremely good.”

Slush is a global movement with organizers around the world. Organizers of the Slush Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai and Helsinki events gathered at the Heaven Stage before the announcement of the winner of the pitching competition. The session featured interviews with community members from Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai and Helsinki. New traditions were born at Slush Singapore in September when the main organizer of the Singapore event, Anna Ratala handed over the Slush construction helmet to the main organizer of Slush Shanghai. It was finally time for Marianne Vikkula, the main organizer of the Slush Helsinki event to receive the helmet. Next, the communities will come together at Slush Helsinki November 30–December 1.
