Slush Singapore made its inaugural launch as part of the Singapore Week of Innovation and TeCHnology (SWITCH) that was opened by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean.
For the first time, Slush was organized in Singapore and the whole community from the region gathered together to celebrate entrepreneurship as well as providing a supportive platform for the future ground breaking founders to meet investors, engage in the local startup ecosystem and gain insights into helping develop their entrepreneurial drive. The program at the Future Stage explored the world in 2026 — driverless vehicles, innovations in health-tech, e-Commerce, and more.
Thousands of viewers joined us online and in case you missed it, check out our Facebook Live at Slush’s Facebook.

The audience at Slush Singapore also saw product launches on stage and at the venue. For example, John Collison, Co-Founder of Stripe, announced the company’s launch in Singapore — businesses in Singapore can now instantly start accepting payments using Stripe. Hossan Leong and other local entrepreneurs including Oswald Yeo from Glints, Dillon Seo from Voler Creative, and Khailee Ng from 500 Startups, also took the stage at Slush Singapore.
Moreover, we have to mention the youngest speaker who has ever stepped on Slush’s global stage, 13-year-old Dylan Soh, who has co-authored the book “The Big Red Dot” with his father Calvin Soh, on his creative and unconventional style of parenting to help bring out Dylan’s inherent creative thinking and foster his entrepreneurial strengths. No wonder they got some of the biggest applause we heard during Slush Singapore!

The pitching stage was packed throughout the event. After six rounds of competitions with over 200 startups, we proudly announced the winner of the Slush Pitching Competition x Channel NewsAsia: AEvice Health. AEvice Health is a biomedical company that creates a wearable monitoring device for asthmatic patients through its patented technology. They won a spot to compete at the Slush 100 Pitching Competition in November 2016 in Helsinki, Finland, as well as $50,000 cash prize by Slush Singapore’s partner event Techventure. Additional prizes were presented to finalists by Startup Sauna and Stripe.
In addition, 8 startups were chosen for a chance to compete in Channel NewsAsia’s Start-UP TV programme where up to four winners stand to gain seed funding of worth SGD 500,000 each.
