“The future of healthcare” session taking place on Thursday at 11.30 will open up with an overview of the current state of healthcare, moving on to discussing what is there to come. One of the speakers is Matthew Holt, Co-Chairman at Health 2.0, organizer of the leading conferences showcasing innovative technologies in healthcare, along with challenges, code-a-thons, education, expos and market intelligence. With 25 years of experience in healthcare and healthcare IT as a generalist forecaster and strategist, Matthew will share valuable insights on the future of health industry. His presentation will be followed by Jani Ahonala, Co-founder and Chairman of Noona, talking about digitalization of cancer care and Noona’s mobile service, which enables patients to report their treatment or illness-related symptoms direct to their clinic via mobile phone, tablet or computer. Jani will elaborate on how technology improves the quality of cancer patient care and makes the patient-clinic relationship more personal and meaningful.
Urska Srsen, Founder & Chief Creative Officer of Bellabeat, will share her experience in building wearables for women during “The Wearable Healthcare” session at 12.30. Urska is the main visionary behind Bellabeat’s products and overall branding strategy that has recently been recognised by Fast Company as one of the most innovative products of the year. The “Personalized medicine: from lab to market” session will start with an outlook on the personalized medicine provided by professor Jonathan Knowles. Being global opinion leader in personalized medicine, Jonathan has been Head of Group Research and Member of the Executive Committee at Roche up to the end of 2009. He is well known for his long term passion for the concept of personalised health and is a go-to person in the field. After that Timo Ahopelto of Lifeline Ventures and Akseli Hemminki, CEO and Founder of TILT therapeutics, are to talk about Cancer immunotherapy with oncolytic viruses. Following an award-winning PhD in cancer genetics, Dr Hemminki completed his MD and then moved to the US to learn about gene therapy in 2000. Ahti has been named the Outstanding Young Person of the World in 2006 by Junior Chamber International and is one of the few non-Americans to receive awards from the National Cancer Institute and ASCO.
