Everyone has heard about the importance of e-commerce. Until today, we, as the digital natives that we are, thought that e-commerce meant electronic commerce. Seriously, electronic commerce, how 90s does that sound?
At Slush’s Blue stage today, however, Kiosked’s CEO Micke Paqvalén presented us with a different meaning of e-commerce: Everywhere Commerce. Everywhere commerce is based on the understanding that the Internet has become hypervisual. It’s a fact that the human brain can process visual information more easily. Combine this with the incredible amount of information that the internet pretty much dropped into our pockets. No, we shouldn’t be surprized that studies show that 80% of the information we consume is visual. Instagram anyone? Think about it, by 2017 67% of the world’s mobile traffic will be video. We consume video anywhere, any time and on any device. This trend will continue and it is predicted that by 2020 20% of retail activity will happen online. The e-commerce market is projected to be a 2.5 trillion USD market.
Micke Paqvalén demonstrated how Kiosked makes everywhere commerce happen. First, we saw a YouTube video, well we have seen this before. Then the Youtube video was turned into a shoppable storefront, by this time we got a bit excited but Micke didn’t stop at that. Kiosked now can monetize Twitter by making all kiosked images and videos sharable on Twitter, retaining the same unique user-experience. The implications of this are huge: for the first time, a company brings a new revenue source right into the Twitter feed. With Twitter’s IPO just a few days ago, we are sure the company has an immense interest in new monetization models.
If you missed how Kiosked solution looks like, here is an example of shoppable video:
Micke Paqvalén comments that their responsive trademark design, indicated by a small K-corner, will soon be visible all over the Internet in things like images, videos, apps and even in advertisements. Kiosked is already making everywhere commerce possible – like what you see, shop it!
