The Nordic Showcase founders will take the Founders Stage on the second day of Slush at 12:00 pm – 12:45 pm, sharing their stories on what problems they are solving. The opening words will be given by Natalia Brzezinski, CEO of Symposium and Johan Brand, Founder and Strategical Advisor to Kahoot.

Anita is one of the founders of the technology company building the AI science assistant, Iris AI. Iris AI is built to pass a special field of knowledge to machines: science. Their AI science assistant helps students and researchers map out and find information for their R&D process, PhD or any other research project. The company wants to remove subjective biases or the need to know the taxonomy or vocabulary of the search process. Iris AI was released in September 2016.
Pekka Laurila is the CFO and co-founder of ICEYE. ICEYE aims to launch and operate a constellation of micro-SAR satellites providing access to timely and reliable Earth observation data. ICEYE is the first company that has successfully miniaturized a SAR satellite, creating a unit that is 100x more cost-efficient than the closest counterpart. With the 18 satellite constellation, ICEYE offers its partners a set of unprecedented surveillance capabilities, accessing an area or interest faster, more frequently and at a lower cost. In September, the Helsinki-based company announced their latest investment round by Seraphim Capital and has today in total raised ﹩17,000 USD.
Elsa and Hjalmar are the co-founders of the social impact company Karma. Since one-third of all food in the world is thrown away and this has a vital effect on the environment, the Stockholm-based startup is dedicated to reduce food waste in the restaurant, cafe and grocery industry. The team has created a platform for retailers to minimize their food waste by selling their surplus food at the end of the day rather than throwing it away. Karma aims to take on a leading role in the fight against food waste. In July 2017 the team announced their fourth investment round of €3,400,000 by eEquity and e.ventures.
Camilla is the founder and CEO of Lix Technologies. The company was founded because of frustration towards the high cost of textbooks. Today the Aarhus based company aims to change the way the world learns, and to make education available to everyone, anywhere. Lix has combined world-class content with innovative learning technology to make it much more accessible to students around the world. The Lix platform provides digital textbooks to university students where they can read, share notes, and collaborate with other students. Lix is about making learning easy to access, effective and collaborative. Earlier in October this year, Lix announced they closed a $5,4 million round led by Unity founder David Helgason, Podio CEO Tommy Ahlers and billionaire and fashion magnate Anders Holch Polvsen from Bestseller – bringing the company’s total funding to $7,5 million (Business Insider Nordic).
Georg is the Co-Founder and CEO of Meniga. The company is on a mission to transform the way banks and advertisers use transaction data by helping people become smarter consumers with great products. Meniga’s award-winning solution helps multiple retail banks across the world create mutually beneficial digital relationships with their customers. This is done by dramatically improving their online and mobile banking user experience, through innovative solutions designed to get people to both think about and engage with their finances. Today, the Reykjavik-based fintech company is serving +50 million digital banking users around the world.
