Jussi wanted to attend Slush Singapore to get insights into the South East Asian market and explore the companies’ opportunities in the region. Slush gave him just that, and much more. Since winning the Partner Prize from Philips Healthcare at the Slush Singapore pitch competition last September, Buddy Healthcare has attained two new clients in Finland. Additionally, they have gained 10 new customers in Europe and formed a long-term relationship with the community in Singapore. Anselm Tan of Philips these days acts as an advisor for Buddy Healthcare and the company is now looking to expand further into the APAC region with the help of an upcoming funding round.
It was also the perfect way to meet potential customers and investors, and it gave the company exposure in the region. Jussi told us that events such as Slush is the only way to know if there is a potential market in the region and if it makes sense to start exploring the options there – “I really prefer being personally present, so I can touch, smell and see the market environment in the country”, Jussi declared.
We asked Jussi what his best advice is for up-and-coming startups and he emphasized that
“to understand the different markets you have to experience them yourself – that is the only way of knowing how the market behaves. To meet the right people at the right time is important, and some say it is just luck – but you cannot meet the right people if you don’t go anywhere”.
This year, Slush Singapore will be held on 14 Sept. Do you want to meet the right people at the right time and expand your horizons to the APAC region? Apply for your startup pass or demo stands before it’s too late.
