Slush Tokyo, the biggest startup event in Japan happening on 22~23rd February, will be partnering with Amazon Web Service to launch the official side event “Startup Day” on the 21st February, 2019, 18:00~20:00, at Amazon Loft Tokyo.
Amazon’s IT infrastructure service, AWS Japan, Inc. (Amazon Web Service) is partnering for the first time with SLUSH TOKYO (General Incorporated Association), to launch Slush Tokyo’s official side event “Startup Day”.
AWS Loft Tokyo, the venue for Startup Day 2019, opened its doors on October, 2018. AWS Loft Tokyo, with branches also in New York and San Francisco, is a free co-working space that offers seminars on AWS technology and related businesses to anyone who has an ID and an AWS account. This startup-friendly space for founders and developers also offers their venue and catering, for events such as Startup Day.
Startup Day is a special event where startups and future innovators come together to have a taste of the Slush experience. With ice-breaking, DJ, open pitch time, food and drinks, this relaxed environment is ideal to meet and mingle with new people. This is an event not only for those interested in Japanese and global startup ecosystem, but also to anyone who is interested in AWS as well.

▶ What is Slush Tokyo?
Slush Tokyo is a non-profit organization in its 5th year of building a movement of technology and startups in Japan. As a once-in-a-year event held at an unprecedented scale in Japan, this year’s theme is “Call for Action”. Attendees are encouraged to take on new challenges and accelerate all actions already being taken for a better world. Over 6,000 attendees from 80 countries are expected to get together for this 2-day event, run by 400 volunteers.

After the world’s first cloud computing service, Amazon’s S3, was released in 2006, AWS has proudly become the product with top market share in the world, and accounts for over half of Amazon’s entire yearly profit. With over 90 services available, AWS Japan’s share has seen similar increases, with clients of the likes of NTT Docomo, KIRIN, and OPT.
