The idea of the workshop discussions is to take time to concentrate: our intimate spaces are built to facilitate intensive, deep interaction. Some workshops are designed to teach our guests new ways to utilize their mobile phones and iPads, others aim to give them new insights on how to build a musical career, build better brands, or even forecast the future. All workshops are held during the Slush Music days in several different spaces inside the Cable Factory area.
The variety of workshops is wide, which makes it hard to pick a favorite. A complete list of the workshops can be found on our website, but here are a few of our top picks for you!
One of our speakers, Andrew Apanov, is hosting a workshop that digs deeper into the topic he will be also talking about on stage. How to get the first 1,000 users for a music startup? Certainly, something most music software producers would like to know! It is not about building the next Spotify, but about finding your own spot in the field.
With Georg Herlitz and Christoffer Söderstjerna, our guests will have the chance to deepen their knowledge on the world of YouTube. The goal of the workshops is to learn to optimize YouTube activities so that they will convert into higher viewing rates and revenue. This workshop is meant for everyone, from artists to label representatives – and for everyone in between.
What is in the store for the music industry in the future? This remains a mystery, but here is your chance to unveil a tiny piece of it. Derek Sellin, a doctoral researcher from Aalto University, is taking our guests on a time travel journey to take a look at the architecture of the music industry of tomorrow. The focus is on the changes technology makes in terms of value creation and caption, although the discussion will also focus on the biggest challenges the music industry faces not only tomorrow, but today.
Our last pick is Leah Harris’ workshop on building better social media presence. Leah herself calls herself a “digital nomad” in addition to being an artist and knowing the startup world very well. The goal of the workshop is to better understand your own value in social media and to use it in building better influencer campaigns. After all, artists can empower themselves through the power of social media.
